Call for Applications for Archaeologists without Borders Support

The WAC Archaeologists without Borders Program is a unique endeavour that supports archaeological education and training in economically disadvantaged countries. Through a network of training programs, WAC members in different parts of the world may travel to host institutions to provide educational opportunities. This program derives from the WAC mission to foster international academic interaction, and to eradicate economic barriers to education about archaeology.

Why get involved in this project?

By taking part in this project you will contribute to our shared vision of global equality in archaeology.

By linking scholars around the world, we ensure that higher archaeological education is available to all, regardless of the economic state of one’s country.  In addition, WAC members are able to support one another by sharing expertise and insights and networking among members around the globe to ensure continued professional and personal development.

Would you like to be involved?

The WAC Executive is currently seeking proposals for support for an Archaeologists without Borders Program to be held between March 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012. Please note: The WAC Executive has allocated $2,000 (U.S.) support for a single Archaeologists without Borders Program each year. Additional Archaeologists without Borders Programs may take place in 2012, but only one will be funded by WAC.

Applications for support will be accepted until January 15 2012. To take part in the program, scholars should be members of WAC.

Organizations or individuals interested in applying for support for an Archaeologists without Borders Program should send the following information to the WAC Secretary, Ines Domingo (ines.domingo@ub.edu):

1) Full Name and Title of all collaborating individuals

2) Email addresses

3) Mailing addresses

4) Proposed Location and Dates of Program

5) Budget (including other sources of funding applied for and/or received)

6) A prospectus describing the theme of the program, possible participants, the involvement of Indigenous peoples and students, dissemination of program materials, and any additional relevant information.

7) A brief CV or resume (500 words or less) from each of the authors of the support application
